Check the placement mode first
If your wall or floor floats past the edge you expected it to line up with, switch out of free placement and try basic snapping. Stormforge offers basic snapping, advanced snapping, and free placement. Free placement is useful for deliberate overlaps, but it can feel like a broken snap when what you want is a clean joint.
Start with a simple join
Try aligning a new piece with an existing wall or floor. Basic snapping is a sensible starting point for a straightforward join. Try advanced snapping if the first mode does not give you the alignment you want. Leave free placement for details you want to position or overlap by hand.
Check chests and signs separately
The November demo update added snapping for chests and signs. If your walls line up but those objects do not, check the demo version on the main menu. Roboto Games identified the update as v0.1.036.29169 and also added build-menu subcategories. Save and exit so Steam can update the demo if needed. The November demo patch notes list both changes.
FAQ
Which mode should I try first for a straight wall?
Start with basic snapping. Move to advanced snapping if basic snapping does not give you the join you want.
When is free placement useful?
Use it when you want to position pieces by hand or overlap them for a detail.
Can a demo version explain why only my chest or sign will not snap?
Yes. Chest and sign snapping were added in the November demo update, so those objects can behave differently on an older build.
