Point the camera before you open the glider
Face the direction you want to travel before deploying the glider. In the updated Stormforge demo, the glider opens in the direction the camera is facing, so a quick look behind you right before deployment can send you the wrong way. Read the in-game gliding prompts for your input device. The September update added directional prompts for controllers.
Use a dive when you need speed
Pitch down to accelerate. A dive trades height for speed, so leave yourself room above the ground before trying it. The September patch raised both the acceleration and the top speed when pitching downward. If you need altitude more than speed, look for a vent before spending too much height.
Fly through wind vents to regain height
Guide the glider into the airflow to gain lift. The October demo update fixed a bug that prevented air vents from pushing the glider upward during a dive. It also removed simple gliding mode, so older instructions that ask you to switch to it no longer apply to the updated demo. See the October demo patch notes on Steam for both changes.
FAQ
Which way does the glider open?
It opens along your camera direction. Line up the camera with your route before deploying.
What should I do if I need more speed?
Pitch down while you have enough room to descend.
Can a wind vent lift me while I’m diving?
Yes, in the updated demo. The October patch fixed the failure to apply lift during a glider dive.
